The Mirza Delibašić Hall, commonly known as Skenderija Hall, is a prominent indoor sporting arena located in Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina. Opened on November 23, 1969, the venue has a seating capacity of 5,616 and serves as the home court for the Bosna Royal Sarajevo basketball team. Mirza Delibašić, born on January 9, 1954, in Tuzla, is widely regarded as one of the greatest athletes in Bosnia and Herzegovina's history. He began his sports career in tennis, becoming the pioneer champion of Bosnia and Herzegovina in 1968. However, he soon transitioned to basketball, joining the Tuzla-based team Sloboda. In 1972, he moved to Sarajevo to play for KK Bosna, where he made a significant impact. Over his career, Delibašić played nearly 700 games for KK Bosna, scoring approximately 14,000 points. He was instrumental in leading the team to victory in the European Champions Cup on April 5, 1979. (centar.ba)

In recognition of his contributions to basketball, the arena was renamed the Mirza Delibašić Hall. The venue has hosted numerous significant basketball events, including the preliminary rounds of the 1970 FIBA World Championship and the 1970 FIBA European Champions Cup final, where Ignis Varese defeated CSKA Moscow 79-74. Additionally, it was the site of the 1980 Intercontinental Cup tournament, in which Maccabi Tel Aviv secured the title. (en.wikipedia.org)

To honor Delibašić's legacy, a monument was unveiled on December 8, 2021, marking the 20th anniversary of his passing. The monument, designed by Sarajevo-based sculptor Adis Lukač, features Delibašić in his iconic jump shot pose. The unveiling ceremony was attended by his family, including his wife Slavica and son Danko, as well as numerous sports figures and fans. (avaz.ba)

The Mirza Delibašić Hall continues to be a central hub for basketball in Sarajevo, hosting domestic and international matches, concerts, and various cultural events. Its rich history and connection to Delibašić's legacy make it a significant landmark in the city's sports and cultural landscape.
