Overview
Voicemarks helps you discover places, create and share pins, upload photos, record or generate audio, follow people and places, and receive updates. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.
Information we collect
- Account information, such as your email address, name, username, avatar, bio and account settings.
- Location information when you grant permission, so we can show nearby places, support map features, and enable tour and navigation-related experiences.
- User content that you choose to provide, including pins, descriptions, comments, photos, audio recordings and feedback submissions.
- Camera and photo library input when you choose to capture or upload images.
- Microphone input when you choose to record audio.
- Notification-related data, including push subscription information and notification preferences.
- Contact discovery data when you grant contacts permission, including readable contact names and privacy-protected SHA-256 hashes of contact email addresses and phone numbers for matching and invites.
- Usage and device information, including feature usage, app platform, performance and error data.
- Purchase and subscription information related to credits or business subscriptions. Payment card details are handled by our payment provider and are not stored by Voicemarks.
How we use information
- To create and manage your account.
- To display maps, nearby places and place details.
- To let you create, edit, publish and manage pins, tours, comments, photos and audio.
- To process optional features you request, such as audio transcription or AI-generated audio.
- To send in-app and push notifications based on your preferences and activity.
- To match your contacts to Voicemarks accounts when you ask us to, and to notify you if a saved contact joins later.
- To provide payments, purchases, credits and subscription features.
- To monitor reliability, improve the product, prevent abuse and moderate user-submitted content.
Permissions
Location, camera, microphone, notification and contacts permissions are requested only when a feature needs them. You can disable permissions later through your browser or device settings.
How information may be shared
We share information only as needed to operate the service, comply with the law, or when you choose to make content public.
- Public content may be visible to other users if you publish public pins, profile information, comments or photos.
- Service providers help run the service, including Supabase, Google Maps and related Google services, PostHog and Stripe.
- We do not sell your contacts or share them with advertisers.
- Authentication providers may share profile information when you sign in with Google.
- Information may be disclosed for legal or safety reasons when required or reasonably necessary.
Analytics and diagnostics
We use analytics and operational telemetry to understand feature usage, improve the app, investigate failures and measure reliability.
Data storage and retention
Information is stored for as long as needed to provide the service, maintain legitimate business records, resolve disputes, enforce terms and meet legal obligations.
Your choices
- You can choose whether to grant location, camera, microphone, contacts and notification permissions.
- You can edit or remove content that you control within the app where those controls are provided.
- You can sign out or stop using the service at any time.
- You can request account deletion from the delete account page.
Children
Voicemarks is not intended for children unless specifically stated otherwise in the app store listing or product materials. If you believe personal information has been provided by a child inappropriately, please contact us so we can review the issue.
