Among his most notable works is "Al-Isti'ab fi Ma'rifat al-Ashab" (The Comprehensive Book on the Knowledge of the Companions), an encyclopedia of biographies of the Prophet's companions. He also authored "Al-Tamhid lima fi al-Muwatta' min al-Ma'ani wa al-Asanid" (The Introduction to the Meanings and Chains of Transmission in the Muwatta'), a crucial reference work on Imam Malik's Muwatta'.
