The reserve comprises diverse habitats such as reedbeds, backwaters, and woodlands, supporting a rich array of wildlife. Notably, reed warblers, water voles, kingfishers, and Daubenton’s bats have been observed. Woodland areas are home to breeding sparrowhawks and great spotted woodpeckers, while otters have been spotted, with efforts made to encourage their habitation. (cambridge.gov.uk)
Access to Logan's Meadow is available from Logan’s Way, Riverside footbridge, and Scholar’s Way. The paths are generally flat, though some areas can become muddy during wet weather. Facilities include an outdoor fitness area and a small football pitch. (cambridge.gov.uk)
The reserve is part of a wildlife corridor extending north beyond Wicken Fen, offering a viable habitat for many wetland species. Management efforts focus on improving and sustaining these habitats through controlled cutting regimes and the reintroduction of pollarding in woodland areas to enhance the longevity of willow trees and allow light to reach the ground. Logan's Meadow serves as a tranquil retreat for nature enthusiasts, providing opportunities for birdwatching, wildlife observation, and leisurely walks amidst a variety of habitats.
