Hobson Square

Hobson Square is a central feature of the Great Kneighton development in Trumpington, Cambridge, serving as a vibrant community hub for residents and visitors alike. The square is named after Thomas Hobson (1544/45–1631), a notable Cambridge carrier who left land in his will to support the maintenance of the conduit and brook that now bear his name. Hobson's Conduit, constructed in 1614, was designed to bring fresh water to the growing city of Cambridge. Architecturally, Hobson Square pays homage to its Bronze Age past. Archaeological excavations in the area revealed evidence of Bronze Age settlements, including field boundaries and round houses.
