All Saints' Church, Goodmayes
Goodmayes Ln, Ilford IG3 9SJ
All Saints' Church in Goodmayes, Ilford, is a Grade II listed building constructed in 1914, exemplifying the Arts and Crafts Gothic architectural style. Designed by architect Charles Canning Winmill, the church features dark red-brown brick with white stone dressings, a high steep-pitched roof in graded slates, and a shingle flèche at the west end. Its interior boasts five-bay arcades with pointed arches of moulded brick springing without capitals from square stone piers, and white plastered walls. (historicengland.org.uk)
In 2016, to commemorate its centenary, the church dedicated a new East Window designed by Henry Shelton and crafted by Richard Paton. This vibrant stained-glass window symbolizes the Holy Trinity through an abstract design, incorporating all the colors of the liturgical seasons. The dedication service was led by the Rt Revd Stephen Cottrell, Bishop of Chelmsford. (joninbetween.blogspot.com)
