Stepney Clocktower

The Clock Tower, situated in Stepney Green, London, is a Grade II listed building renowned for its architectural elegance and historical significance. Constructed in 1913, the tower stands at 20 feet tall and features a four-faced clock, set upon a white stone plinth with red and glazed brickwork. Originally erected on Burdett Road, the Clock Tower was relocated to its current position in Stepney Green in January 1934. The tower was built in memory of Stanley B. Atkinson, a dedicated public servant and Stepney Borough Councillor who passed away in 1910. The inscription on the tower reads:

The surrounding area, Stepney Green Park, has a rich history dating back to the Peasants' Revolt in 1381. Over the centuries, the park has undergone significant transformations, including the demolition of 17-storey towers in 1999/2000 and subsequent re-landscaping in 2000 to create the current public park.
